I am a single mother of a 14 year old boy. I have always been a hard worker. I now find myself sick with a chronic disease. I can no longer work. I have a chronic lung disease which renders me with not enough breath to make the bed. I have filed for Social Security. I am now in my second appeal. No! I am not lazy! I am sick and now about destitute. My concern is for my son. I can no longer support him on my own. I have worked since I was 14 years old. I have paid in to the s.s. system. I should not have to feel ashamed or intimidated. I deserve respect and dignity, and so does my child!

Help! I need help on bills. I've been disabled for some time now (I had a stroke). I have a couple of bills that have gone into collections, and I was talking to a collector recently who mentioned these resources. If it's possible I would like to get these bills paid off. There are a couple that are $2000 and not being able to work to pay these off has become a problem. I don't make enough with disability to make payment arrangements in order to pay these off. I'm considered permanently disabled. I want to work, but because of the tremor I have in my left hand and very limited use of it, I'm not able.
My brother in law wants to move in with my husband and I their mom gets paid to watch him. Can my brother in law change his caregiver from his mom to my husband? Who would we have to talk to or get in contact with?
Social security is definitly going though changes as alot of baby boomers knew it would. The amount of new filings for ssdi increased dramatically in 2010 due to economic issues and an aging baby boom generation. I worked 28 yrs and finally became disabled due to aids and crytococcal menegitis. The aids was my fault due to risky behavior in the 80s but I did work hard even after my diagnosis until the menegitis effects messed up my cognitive skills. Ive met people who are on ssi or ssdi most on ssi seem to be illegal women around of hispanic descent, for some reason one always seems to be looking around corners of buildings here and acts like she lives here, not sure maybe she does, everyonce in a while cops roll through, if she is outside she will hightail into the breezeway....Its not an old issue even in the early 90s I would see illegals in the barrion where I lived who lived 5 deep in cochroach infested rooms in houses. The kids would go to local schools and were on some type of public assistance. I worked hard got myself out of that scene became an electrician bought a house truck tools only to see it go away when I got sick so now I am back in the poor side of life on ssdi. If anyone says ssdi or ssi is a godsend they are in denial...it is geared towards those who are truly disabled not the person with a limp or too damn fat to carry themselves driving a cadailac around with a handicap placard. Those are the ones who make me sick.
Okay woman, why can I no longer access our private messages again? Did you delete our previous messages and then forget to unblock after blocking to delete them? Would you try to remember to unblock after you do the block after you finish deleting the message(s)? I know I'm rarely here these days, but it's nice to be able to message you every once in a while on this site! Thanks! Love you! Hugs! Cat
in response to dumbo...I have seizures and I have disability. If your Mom gets disability she will have to file for someone to help her from the disability office. There is a website for that.

I did not see anythng where is specifically says they will pay you to take care of your Mother. You do need to contact your State to see if they have some programs that can help you with getting your resources met. Also, going to a church is helpful too. I used to my utilities paid from churches. I am sorry to hear about your Moms issues. I have epilepsy and I certainly understand how difficult it can be.
I WAS WONDERING IF SOMEONE IS ON SOC.DISABILITY AND HER MOTHER GETS ILL..AND HAS TO TAKE CARE OF HER..COULD THE CAREGIVER GET PAID..AND WOULD THAT HURT HER MONEY EACH MO....AND HER MOTHER IS ON SSI..SHE HAS ALZ. DIEASE.

I am receiving SSDI, and working as an elderly part time (10 hrs a week:use bus) personal caretaker. Have had numerous med problems since 1982. Worked full time in I.T. for over 30 years, not thrilled to be on SSDI. Live with totally disabled common law husband, very low income-he is unable to work. Lost a fallopian tube(tumor/hemmorage) in 1982, was unable to bear a child due to endometriosis. Continued to work, took care of my mom (moved her in with me):dementia, CAD/CHF(30% heart function), 2 broken/replaced hips, diabetic. At the same time, took care of disabled husband:3 nervous breakdowns. Had a car at the time, took family care med LOA-unpaid from work. Developed diverticulitis yr.:2000, during caretaker period:life-flighted(hemmoraging:(3 1/2 pints blood in abdomen); had 1/2 intestines & 1/2 colon removed, clinically dead for 4 min. in helicopter. Brought back to life on roof of PGH, PA Hospital, spent 1 month in there, with respirator breathing 100% for me for 2 weeks. Put into drug-induced coma.Afterwards, got another job & continued to work, needed surgery again after 3 yrs. Repair of 3 abdominal hernias; unable to carry/lift more than 10 lbs., mesh net inserted into abdomen-1 step away from lifetime colostomy bag. Had to have 1985 Chevy Blazer junked, due to massive repairs/rusted, etc. Cashed in all retirement savings early to take care of family. Eventually had to file bankruptcy just to avoid foreclosure of small home. Need to work part time, now living pay to pay(SSDI). If anyone can help, I need an older donated small auto(sedan-automatic) to attend dr. appts, work p/t, grocery shop, etc. Cannot carry groceries over 10 lbs in weight(especially on bus), due to abdominal pains/flareup issues. 10 miles north of Pittsburgh, PA area. State cutbacks on transportation and bus routes due to economy. May God Bless Richly You. Email Address: toxictwins2@yahoo.com

The starter kits provide information about the specific documents and the information that we will request from you. We will ask for more details during your interview or when you complete the online Disability Report.
The kits also provide general information about the disability programs and our decision-making process that can help take some of the mystery out of applying for disability benefits.
Each Disability Starter Kit contains a:
Fact sheet that answers questions most people ask about applying for disability benefits,
Checklist of documents and information we will request, and
Worksheet to help you gather and organize the information you will need.

in response to shotcaller69...You aren't going to want to hear this but the truth of the matter is that there are few grant that are for personal uses. You have to get a non profit to help you .and that takes a long time both to write it up and to get it. Aidpage has a sister site that has two programs that help you if you still choose to try first one is foundations; www.grantgate.com and the other you can tell from the title: www.thefederalmoneyretriever.com. Both are free , it helps guide you and tells you what you need to know.
While you are working on your project visit my homepage . I have several pages of information that will be of help to you. then I would advise to visit some of the other Aidmates here on Aidpage and they will do their bst to help you also.
in response to Schmidty...yes i need to know where i can go for a grant for being a single mom...i am really down and out at this time and the bills just keep piling up. I do work however my previous bills are going to shut me down in the present please someone guide me!!
I'm not sure if you're one person or a foundation of some kind. I'm on your page now; however, it's not clear who I'm speaking with. The name: Nobody's Someone is remarkable. Whoever thought of this name is creative and talented in my opinion. Nobody's Someone has an emotional catch to it! Caused me to take a pause!

I will be 66 years old in March, 2011. My wife will be 65 in November, 2011.
I began early SS in August 2009 but can't get along on retirement income so I still work. My wife works full time.
I have health insurance thru my employer; employee for me and dependent for my wife. My wife's employer does not offer health insurance.
I enrolled in Medicare before my 65th birthday as I was instructed in an avalanche of letters I received. SS began withholding Medicare A & B premiums from my benefit check.
Last month my Aetna monthly premium jumped from $866 per month to $1102 per month.
My plan is to keep Aetna until my wife is 65 in November, then drop it and get Supplement J for approx. $260 per month for each of us.
My question is: will I have any trouble signing each of us up for supplemental insurance in November?
I suppose that since my 65th birthday was near my insurance company requested a profile update so I called them. I told them that I was enrolled in Medicare but I must keep my insurance because my wife is not yet 65. I was told that I should not have enrolled in Medicare since my insurance remained in full force. The monthly premium I pay for Medicare is wasted since my own insurance remains Primary and Medicare is Secondary.

This is a tragedy!!!! & when companys will not stand up for actions that happen in on or around their establishments this should send a message out loud and clear to the paying public.
Try St. Vincent Depaul in your area. they help pay rents & utilities. and you will not have to go to them they will set an appointment & come to you. they will even talk to your landlord on your behalf. I hope this help & I will keep you in my Prayers!!!
Read it and you will find out what I mean about being careful of your surroundings and if you get a call from anyone telling you you have won something and they need a card or your address to send it to you hang up the phone. There are a lot of scammers out there who have access to who is who age wise and I get this calls. I tell them if I won something send it and then hang up..
See if the store / bank takes videos of the outside where you car was broken into.
Someone PLEASE help us we have 2 children in the home. We will be evicted by TOMORROW!!! My mom works all the time to try to support us. We are honest, kindhearted people who just need a little help r... see full post
